Patrick Mahomes Subway Commercials: All Athletes Who’ve Appeared (Including Travis Kelce, Diddy, Justin Bieber, Lionel Messi and many more )
The Subway commercial athletes could make up a superteam if they decided to band together that’s how many superstars seemingly eat the sandwiches.
Mahomes shines as a Subway spokesperson alongside other superstar athletes, highlighting the brand’s healthy sandwiches.
Subway’s innovative ad campaigns feature real-life athletes like Tom Brady and Serena Williams to promote their menu.
Collaborations with teammates like Travis Kelce and rival QBs like Justin Herbert add a fun and competitive twist to Subway commercials.
Subway commercials are well known for their athlete endorsements and the fast food makers’ insistence on the health of their sandwiches compared to other offerings makes the superfit excellent spokespeople for their chains. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may be one of the most bankable spokespeople alive right now, and he’s also starred in commercials for Head & Shoulders, Hunts Ketchup, and State Farm. Mahomes has endorsed Subway for years and in 2023 became the face of their new ad campaign, “PROferred by Pros. Preferred by America”, highlighting their freshly sliced deli meat.
Subway has gone through several memorable ad campaigns, but their “Refresh” campaign in 2021 starring Tom Brady, Stephen Curry, Serena Williams, and Megan Rapinoe saw the brand eschew traditional commercial actors for their ads in favor of real-life athletes. And what better people to showcase the healthy aspects of Subway sandwiches than fit professional athletes? Subway is second only to McDonald’s in terms of worldwide chains (via Food and Wine), and yet, they don’t take their foot off the gas pedal when it comes to advertising.
Travis Kelce Appeared With Patrick Mahomes In A 2024 Subway Commercial
Mahomes Finds A Better Sidekick Than His Pro Bowl Tight End
Travis Kelce is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League, a 3x Super Bowl champion, 9x Pro Bowler, future Hall of Famer, and host of SNL; but to most people, he is Taylor Swift’s boyfriend. That’s not a diss. Along with a few world leaders, and perhaps Lionel Messi, Taylor Swift is one of the most recognizable people in the world in 2024. Kelce is still a charismatic man all on his own though, and he brings that charisma to his Subway commercial with Mahomes.
In the January 2024 ad, Mahomes talks about the new footlong cookie “sidekick” to go along with the footlong sandwich. “This might be my favorite sidekick ever,” he proclaims, only for the camera to pan to Kelce, who looks up, hurt and annoyed. It’s a funny, quick spot and uses the relationship between Kelce and Mahomes to great effect.
It must be one good cookie if Mahomes is willing to consider it a better sidekick than his elite tight end.
Tight ends are the quarterbacks’ “sidekicks” in American football, with the two positions working heavily in tandem in a way other positions don’t. Kelce and Mahomes are arguably the best at their respective positions and their success together on the same team is well-documented (and heavily awarded). It must be one good cookie if Mahomes is willing to consider it a better sidekick than his elite tight end.
All Other Mahomes Subway Commercial Athletes (Including Another Kansas City Chief)
Mahomes Has Shared Sandwiches With Plenty Of Other Super Stars
Mahomes has appeared with plenty of other athletes in his Subway commercials, including another Kansas City teammate. The “PROferred by Pros Subway” campaign shows professional athletes talking about the new Subway sandwiches with freshly sliced meat. In one, Julie Ertz, a U.S. Olympic-level soccer star, claims she’s the real football star, considering she actually plays the game with her feet. In another, San Diego Chargers QB and Mahomes’ contemporary, Justin Herbert tries to finish the ad before Mahomes, a nod to their on-field divisional rivalry.
A third Subway commercial sees Mahomes alone talking about the sandwiches, only for Chad Henne to pop out from behind him and remind the viewer that the sandwiches are also “preferred” by backup quarterbacks as well as starters, before literally hiding behind Mahomes’ back. Henne was a long-time veteran quarterback of the NFL and spent his last four seasons playing backup to Mahomes in Kansas City, before retiring after the 2022 season. It’s nice to see he still has Mahomes’ back after retirement — even if it’s just for a sandwich.
