JUST IN: Gisele Bündchen ended Tom Brady marriage with brutal 3-words that left NFL star heartbroken

Gisele Bündchen told Tom Brady they weren’t compatible anymore before ending their 13-year marriage in 2022, according to a new book about the retired NFL star.

“One day, Gisele, who is really into astrology, basically looked into the stars and told Tom, ‘We’re not compatible,’” an insider close to Brady told author Lars Anderson in his forthcoming book, “Brady: An American Story and the Price of Greatness,” which was obtained by Daily Mail Friday.

“And just like that, she was done,” Anderson writes in the book of their crumbling marriage.

According to Anderson, Brady’s desire to continue his long-standing football career strained his marriage, with Bündchen allegedly pushing for her now-ex-husband to retire since at least the 2017 Super Bowl, when the New England Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons.

Per Anderson, the health guru had rushed onto the field to celebrate the Patriots’ victory and Brady’s sixth Super Bowl win. However, instead of congratulating the former quarterback, she allegedly said, “Would now be the perfect time to retire?”

Later that day, Bündchen, 46, allegedly asked Brady, 49, again about retirement, to which he allegedly responded, “Too bad, babe. I’m having too much fun right now.”

A few weeks after the big game, the couple vacationed with Jay Feely, Brady’s former Michigan Wolverines teammate from his days at the University of Michigan.

Anderson cited a past interview with Feely, in which the latter stated Bündchen wanted him to try to push Brady into retirement as an act of leadership for his family.

“She was dead serious,” Feely previously told Sports Illustrated’s Greg Bishop. Feely explained he instead told Brady, “Play as long as you want.”

In 2018, after the Patriots lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, Bündchen allegedly wrote a serious note to Brady, asking for more of himself for their family, according to the book, which comes out Sept. 29.

“She needed him to be present when he was at home, not responding to text messages on his constantly buzzing cell phone or replaying a game in his mind,” Anderson stated.

“She needed more help with the kids. She needed the chance to sleep in just a few days a week. She needed more time for her own career.”

Brady’s former teammate told Anderson that Bündchen was “a bigger international star” than the athlete and was “getting tired of living” on his schedule.

One of Brady’s pals, who is also a former football player, reflected on the potential challenges of being married to him.

“The guy gets up at the crack of dawn, thinks all day about a game that is foreign to his wife, comes home and is in bed each night by nine,” the pal said, per Anderson. “He can’t really eat out or go out without causing a scene. Everything he puts in his mouth tastes like s–t. The whole lifestyle had to be getting tiresome for Gisele.”

Brady played with the Patriots from 2000 to 2019 before signing on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.

Brady stayed with the Buccaneers for two years before announcing his retirement in February 2022. However, he unretired the following month.

I’ve realized my place is still on the field and not in the stands,” Brady wrote via X (formerly Twitter) at the time. “That time will come. But it’s not now.”

Anderson explained that while Bündchen vocally supported Brady, she was upset at his decision and briefly fled to Costa Rica, leaving him distraught.

Anderson cited conversations with Brady’s former coaches and teammates, recalling how he lost weight, appeared distracted and questioned his decision to unretire upon returning to training camp that season.

Reps for Brady and Bündchen weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.

Ultimately, Brady and Bündchen announced their divorce on October 28, 2022, stating their priority was to focus on their kids: Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13.

“We have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always,” the model wrote via Instagram at the time.

Bündchen has since remarried to jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente in December 2025, and the couple is the parents of a 1-year-old son.

As for Brady, he’s since been linked to model Irina Shayk and internet personality Alix Earle.
