Get a sneak peak at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour’s jaw dropping $150m stage set
Anyone who is lucky enough to have attended a Taylor Swift concert will know that the staging is every bit as magical and inspiring as the set list itself. From neon light-up lamp-posts during How You Get the Girl on Taylor’s 1989 World Tour to the 30ft snake that graced the stage on her Reputation tour, every effort is put into making the stage tell as much of a story as the lyrics. And nowhere does she do this better than on The Eras Tour.
The Lover era
The stage begins as a dreamy cotton candy landscape, before transforming into a star-filled sultry twilight, via fairytale forests, a moss-covered cabin and a seascape, ready for the world’s most famous pop star to dive into, with almost every song accompanied by a different backdrop.
The performance plays out on a 330ft-long T-shaped stage, with immersive LED video walls and flooring, adding more context to each track, along with smoke machines, pyrotechnics and confetti cannons.
The Folklore era
As the Eras show unfolds, fans are transported to multiple worlds. Every bit of the set has a purpose, symbolism and a message that goes beyond being visually effective.
To achieve such intricate world-building, Taylor has not only been involved with every detail, she has also surrounded herself with the best talent to ensure her $150m (£120m) stage set operates with the precision of a Swiss watch.
Multiple Taylors perform Blank Space during the 1989 era
The complex set-up joins together three stages, which connect through a huge catwalk. Where these spaces join, a diamond-shaped platform rises and falls from the ground, thanks to a hydraulic crane. And in the section closest to the audience, there’s another immersive LED platform.
It is here where some of the most magical moments of the concert occur, including Taylor’s now famous stage dive, which sees her plunge below stage after the acoustic section of the show and swim away, ready to reappear and perform Midnights.
