“DO HARD THINGS, NEVER SETTLE FOR WHAT’S EASY LIKE TRAVIS KELCE DATING TAYLOR SWIFT”: Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker delivered a powerful commencement speech to the graduating class of Benedictine College making a hilarious reference to TRAVIS KELCE
Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker gave the commencement address at Benedictine College on Saturday.
Butker took the stage to inspire the Class of 2024 in a ceremony that took place at 10 a.m. He was named an Honorary Doctorate by the college as well, something he joked would allow him to request Chiefs play-by-play announcer Mitch Holthus to address him by a different nickname than “Butt-kicker.”
Last May, Butker gave the commencement speech at his alma mater, Georgia Tech, and advised graduates to “get married and start a family.” On Saturday, Butker gave a similar speech, harping on the values of the Catholic faith.
The three-time Super Bowl champion kicker commended graduates for making it through the adversity of a 2020 high school graduation and a pandemic-filled start to their college careers.
“I hope you learned the important lesson that suffering in this life is only temporary,” Butker said.
At the small Catholic college in Atchison, Butker’s speech centered on faith and, specifically, faith in today’s society.
“Make no mistake,” Butker said of Catholics, “before we even attempt to fix any of the issues plaguing society, we must first get our own house in order.”
The 28-year-old from Decatur, Georgia, even cited Taylor Swift’s ‘Bejeweled’, saying “familiarity breeds contempt,” while discussing the Catholic church.
“You are sitting at the edge of the rest of your lives,” Butker told graduates of Benedictine College’s Class of 2024. “Each of you has the potential to leave a legacy that transcends yourselves and this era of human existence.”

Lieutenant General Arthur Gregg was also honored at the commencement. He was the first black man and first living person to have a military base named after him.
