What is ‘Nightmare Scenario’ For Chiefs in Three-Peat Chase?— The Kansas City Chiefs are chasing a historic three-peat in 2024, but what would make it a nightmare season for the reigning champs?
The Kansas City Chiefs are on the hunt for a third successive Super Bowl win in 2024, with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid again at the center of it. Of course, Steve Spagnuolo’s defense also played its part last year, being a driving force in the title win.
But everything needs to go right for a team to claim a Super Bowl. They need to have a good run with injuries and a little luck along the way.
For the Chiefs, the best ability is availability, and Mahomes has missed just one game in the last three seasons, which has been crucial to the franchise’s dominance. Which would make Mahomes going down with injury a devastating blow for the Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes and their chance at history.
As such, Bleacher Report lists Mahomes going down with injury as part of a nightmare scenario in 2024.
“Anything short of a deep playoff run or an injury to Patrick Mahomes,” Bleacher Report writes.
The Chiefs appear to be as prepared as any team to claim a historic three-peat, but of course, that’s predicated on Mahomes being the centerpiece of it all.
Granted, Carson Wentz was signed to be Mahomes’ backup, and while he could fill in for a game or two, having him for a long stretch of the season and playoffs would be an interesting watch.

In truth, the Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes rest squarely on No. 15’s shoulders, and considering what is at stake in 2024, if he were to succumb to an injury, it would be the very definition of a nightmare for Kansas City.
Not only would their Super Bowl hopes go up in smoke, but so would their chance at history.
