Shame or No shame: Kim Kardashian wooing Tom Brady: The story behind it
Dave Portnoy is adamant Kim Kardashian was in on the brutal joke made at her expense during Netflix’s “The Roast of Tom Brady.” The star of the show called out Kardashian’s ex-husband Kanye West in a cutting remark during the show.
Comedian Nikki Glaser has shared her concerns about the jibe after believing Kardashian was “off-limits” during the show. The celebrity also received relentless boos from those in attendance at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
Host Kevin Hart had to step in at one stage to calm the crowd and allow her to deliver her material. Netflix has since edited the boos out of the final cut to save her further embarrassment.
But the brutal joke that left Kardashian shaking her head remains from the live broadcast. Brady began the jibe by acknowledging attendance at the event.
“I know Kim was terrified to be here tonight,” he began. “Not because of this [roast], but because her kids are at home with their dad [West].”
However, Portnoy refuses to buy her that she did not get a heads-up about the one-liner beforehand. “Anybody who doesn’t think Kim K approved that joke beforehand is dumb,” he has posted on X, formerly Twitter. “There is a reason none of the comics knew she was going beforehand. Brady treated her with kid gloves.”
Page Six sources have also accused Portnoy of being the person indirectly behind the boos for Kardashian. The Barstool Sports creator reveled in them at the time on social media. His first post about the roast was regarding Kardashian. “Kim Kardashian getting flat booed at the Brady roast is the highlight of this roast,” he posted on X.
Portnoy then added in another post: “Kardashian got booed like [NFL commissioner Roger] Goodell after the [New England Patriots] won the Super Bowl. Kevin Hart had to legit tell people to stop. I love it. She also sucked and read the teleprompter like a robot.”
Filming his live reaction while watching on TV, Portnoy remarks: “First of all, she looks awful. Awful. Nobody got booed the whole night; listen to this crowd.” He then joins in by booing from home before adding: “Kevin Hart had to tell people to get quiet. Sit down. Everyone hates you … everyone hates you.”
He later acknowledged the subsequent reporting about his apparent involvement. “I’m getting credit for the Kardashian boos? Ego fully back to a hundred million trillion!!!!!!”
Responding to the boos being missing from the final cut, he added: “GUTLESS PER USUAL. Goodell and Kardashian are two peas in a pod.”
Portnoy had already commented on Netflix not having him in the arena. “I’m very thankful for Netflix and everybody involved not inviting me,” he wrote.
“I’m glad [Barstool’s] Brianna [LaPaglia] and [John] Feitleberg got to go. Keeps me humble and hungry. Knocked me down a few pegs, which is exactly what I needed. Truly blessed to not be invited.”
