Patrick Mahomes’ mother Randi vulnerable again a year after her biggest loss
Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi, shared a heartfelt message on social media as she remembered the passing of her mom a year ago.
Debbie Bates Martin passed away on April 5, 2023 at the age of 72 after battling several health problems, and her loss is still felt by Randi today.
Randi took the time to remember the good things her mother brought to her and her family, as well as her community, having spent 41 years of her life as the Troup Middle School Secretary and Whitehouse High School Registrar.
“You will NEVER know how precious your moms voice is until you can no longer hear it. She was the LOUDEST proudest bestest mom and Nannie ever. I know mom’s is a way better place but my heart aches missing her. Until i see you again momma,” Randi wrote on her Instagram.
It’s been a year since you left us… but I know you’re up there smiling down on us. Missing my beautiful Momma a little extra today. Her love and light continue to guide me, and I am blessed to have the memories we share. Forever cherished, forever loved ♥️ pic.twitter.com/vZL7Or1cFH

Her message was warmly received by others who have also lost loved ones and the void that comes with it.
“Mothers Day is never the same after they pass,” wrote one follower, with another adding: “Very sorry. I’m sure she was proud of her loving family.”
Randi’s grief was evident when she shared the news of her mother’s passing back in April 2023, as she wrote: “Missing my mom so much it hurts and trying not to cry again in front of my daughter is impossible.”
Randi and her journey as a mother
Randi became a mother for the first time at the age of 20 when she gave birth to Patrick.
She has previously spoken about how the moment helped bring her purpose and direction, and that it helped change it for the better given her young age.
“He was my little best friend. We were together 24/7, and I learned with him,” Randi said about Patrick in the past.
