Patrick Mahomes and Hollywood Brown in Dallas to cheer on the #Mavs against Minnesota.
The Minnesota Timberwolves’ NBA Finals hopes are on the floor and they might be set for further setbacks as it’s revealed their star player, Anthony Edwards, required oxygen during their second-game loss to the Dallas Mavericks.
Luka Doncic broke Minnesotan hearts and sent Texas into euphoria with his buzzer-beating walk-off shot to give the Mavericks a slender 109-108 victory and a 2-0 lead in the NBA Conference Finals.
Nikola Jokic’s hilarious reaction to dunk on Anthony Edwards in Game 5 sparks laughter
And the tightly-contested games, straight off the back of a seven-match series against the Denver Nuggets, are taking a toll on Edwards who momentarily dipped out of Game 2 to get some medical aid via oxygen mask.
“During the time Anthony Edwards was checked out of the game, from 7:53 to 5:31 remaining in the 4th Q,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin posted to X.com, formerly Twitter. “The Wolves guard put on a face mask to receive oxygen in the tunnel by the Minnesota bench.”
However, this is contested by the Timberwolves’ icon himself as he firmly rejected the claim when asked by reporters and added that he felt “great” physically during the loss to Kyrie Irving’s side.
“Nah, nah,” Edwards said with a laugh, when asked if he needed air. “I was good today.”
Timberwolves beginning to burn out
The Timberwolves, who held a better regular season record than the Mavericks, surrendered the second game of the series to the Mavericks as Doncic hit the buzzer shot and it came after they held the lead for so long in the series.
At half-time, they held a 60-48 lead before losing the final two quarters 31-26 and 30-22 to lose the chance to draw level in Western Conference Finals as Edwards’ has been struggling for form during this series.
