King Charles wants to be involved in peace-making between his two sons
King Charles is aiming to facilitate reconciliation between Prince Harry and Prince William during Harry’s reported upcoming visit to London.
According to palace sources, Charles has given Harry the green light for a potential meeting with him. There is hope that the brothers can mend their relationship, with the King potentially acting as a mediator.
“It is very likely that Harry and William will see each other next month, and anything is possible. The King will want the brothers to patch things up, so it’s likely that he could play a peacemaking role,” a source told Sky News Australia.
“King Charles aims to broker peace between Harry and William during this visit,” revealed another inside.
The New York Post reached out to Buckingham Palace and representatives for the Sussexes for comment, but there was no response as per the American paper.
When is Harry visiting?
While Harry’s visit remains unofficial, it’s anticipated that commemorative events will occur at St Paul’s Cathedral.
It’s uncertain whether Harry will travel alone again, as he did during a brief trip to London in February. On that occasion, he reportedly did not meet with William and opted to stay at a luxury hotel rather than with family at royal residences.
The rift between the Waleses and the Sussexes has endured for years, but recent reports suggest a willingness to reconcile. The Prince and Princess of Wales have allegedly invited the Sussexes to bring their children on their next visit to the UK, although Meghan Markle has reportedly declined the offer. However, sources have refuted this claim.
Archie and Lilibet last visited the UK during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. Markle herself returned to England for the Queen’s funeral service in September of that year.
The prospect of a joint return to the UK for the Sussexes is complicated by Harry’s unsuccessful bid for taxpayer-funded security for his family. Consequently, they will now cover their security costs when visiting the UK independently.
