Cassie Ventura’s mother is speaking out.
Days after her pregnant daughter took to the stand in the trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs, Regina Ventura testified on May 20 about her memories from the decade Cassie was in an on and off relationship with the music mogul. Among her allegations against Diddy is that he threatened to release explicit videos of the “Me & U” singer after she started dating Kid Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi).
During her testimony, per NBC News, Regina said in December 2011 Diddy threatened Cassie via email after learning she and Cudi were dating. In the email, which was displayed in court, Diddy threatened to release two sex tapes of Cassie, including one on Christmas Day. He also threatened Cassie and Cudi would be physically harmed, though not at his own hands.
“I was physically sick,” Regina told the court over Combs’ email. “I did not understand it, the sex tape threw me. He was trying to hurt my daughter. He wanted $20,000 because she was having a relationship with Scott Mescudi.”
She added that Diddy said he was angry he’d spent money on Cassie and that she was now dating another man.
“We took a home equity loan,” Regina explained. “That was the only way we could get the money.”
Cassie’s mother also testified, per NBC News, that during that same month she took pictures of Cassie’s injuries, which she says were received at the hands of Combs.
As she explained, “She was bruised and I wanted to make sure we memorialize it.”
Following Regina’s testimony, the defense team declined an opportunity to cross examine her, with attorney Marc Agnifilo telling the court, “I do not have any questions.”
Cassie addressed the threats Sean allegedly made against her and Cudi during her own testimony, telling the court May 14 that it led to her calling off their relationship.
“[There was] too much uncertainty if we continued to see each other,” Cassie said during her testimony. “Sean said he was going to hurt the both of us.”
Regina stands as another witness of already many who have testified to alleged physical abuse from Diddy towards Cassie.
On May 16, Danity Kane alum Dawn Richard alleged during her testimony she witnessed Diddy—who has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, prostitution and sex trafficking—attack Cassie with a skillet of eggs in 2009.
“He came downstairs, asking where his phone was and he threw her to the ground,” Dawn said, according to NBC News—who had reporters present in the courtroom. “He attempted to kick her, she fell to the ground and went into the fetal position, literally trying to hide her head.”
She continued, “I was scared for her, I was scared to do anything.”
