Coco Gauff performs a bizarre but highly effective acrobatic maneuver to win match point against Zheng Qinwen

Coco Gauff showcased her impressive athleticism during the quarterfinals against Zheng Qinwen at the 2024 Italian Open. This thrilling WTA 1000 event duel saw Gauff, the world No. 3, secure a place in the semifinals in Rome.

During the match, Gauff showed her quick reflexes and deftly dodged an errant shot from the Chinese with an acrobatic maneuver in mid-air to seal her victory. The American tennis player celebrated her passage to the next round on the floor, a moment of pure athletic prowess.

Zheng made the mistake of sending the ball straight towards Gauff, who quickly accelerated and propelled himself to dodge it. After performing the maneuver and falling to the ground upon landing, Gauff celebrated with his arms in the air before heading over to shake Zheng’s hand.

Now the American will face Iga Swiatek in the semifinals of the Italian Open, after the world No. 1 defeated Madison Keys with authority.

Coco has no easy task against Swiatek as Iga has won nine of her 10 matches against Gauff including a straight-sets victory in their most recent meeting at the WTA Finals 2023.
