JUST IN: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has sparked controversy across the NFL with his offensive comments about the Eagles following their recent loss to the Bears.
The Philadelphia Eagles are facing plenty of attention following their disappointing 27–7 loss to the Chicago Bears, and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has now been pulled into the growing conversation surrounding the game.
The Eagles struggled throughout Monday night’s matchup, turning the ball over three times while managing just 248 total yards. Chicago, meanwhile, controlled the game and earned a convincing victory behind quarterback Case Keenum.
The controversy surrounding Mahomes comes from discussion about quarterback safety after Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts took a hard hit near the sideline from Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson. The hit resulted in an unnecessary-roughness penalty and temporarily forced Hurts out of the game.
Some commentators have since brought up a play involving Mahomes from the 2025 season, arguing that his aggressive approach near the sideline may have influenced how defenders approach mobile quarterbacks today. Those claims have generated debate among NFL fans, although they remain commentary rather than an established league finding.
Meanwhile, the Eagles have plenty to address after falling to 2–1. Head coach Nick Sirianni accepted responsibility for the defeat, calling it a “true team loss,” while analysts have questioned Philadelphia’s offense, defense, discipline and play-calling.
With the Eagles preparing for their next matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, attention will now turn to whether Philadelphia can respond quickly.
And with Mahomes’ name now part of the conversation, NFL fans are already debating what comes next.
